Lenten Service Opportunties

Habitat for Humanity
St. John’s has become a key congregation in Habitat projects in recent years. We need a crew of 10-12 on Saturday, March 20 to help build a home for a family that otherwise could not afford one. Please contact the following leaders if you can be a laborer or help with lunch.

St. John’s Shelter Program for Women & Children
St. John’s Shelter, born on our steps and named after our church, is a transformational program that leads homeless women and their children on a path from crisis to self-sufficiency. Volunteer for a workday on March 6 and/or contact Linda Barth to work at St. John’s Shelter in any number of ways.

Family Promise
For four weeks a year, we host Family Promise here on our St. John’s campus. We are not scheduled to host during Lent, but will after Easter on the week of April 11-18. Can you volunteer to be a part of this wonderful program that allows homeless families to stay at churches as they transition out of the homelessness cycle? You can help by preparing a meal, hosting in some capacity, or staying overnight at the church during the week. You can work independently at the Family Promise Day Center!

St. John’s Work Days
We will be cleaning and painting and sprucing up the church on two work days: Furlough Friday, February 19, or Saturday, March 13. Come help beautify your church home by volunteering on a good old-fashioned, church clean-up day!

For more information or to sign-up to participate in any of these service opportunities, call the church office at 916.444.0874.
