Special Lenten Offering

This year’s special Lenten offering seeks to put a roof on the Rwamagana Lutheran School in Rwanda. The Rwamagana Lutheran School recently received its license. Bishop Mark Holmerud participated in its dedication, and Pastor Frank’s daughter, Christina, is now working there with ELCA missionary and School Head Robin Strickler, Pastor John Rutsindintwarane’s wife.

The roof will cost $10,000 to build and will cover a 10 classroom, two-story building. As we seek to follow Jesus this Lent in a deeper way, we urge you to make a special offering so St. John’s can cover the costs of this project.

Please make checks out to St. John’s and mark “Rwanda Lutheran School Project” in the memo section.

We are so happy to be supporting the Lutheran Church in Rwanda as it helps its country make strong, bold steps away from the genocide that happened there less than 20 years ago. Education, as well as faith, is at the center of the wonderful Rwandan work of reconciliation that has been the more recent mark of this country.

NOTE: This is a different school than the one we have raised money for over the last few Christmases. Thanks to your generosity, our fundraising for the dormitories benefiting the public secondary school in Rukira, Rwanda is now completed.
